I’m glad you found my first blog post for the Worship Ministry! To start, I wanted to share my thoughts on how I’ll use this space. I’ll be sharing songs that we, as a Worship Ministry, have been listening to and giving some of our thoughts. Some of them will be added to our worship experience on Sunday mornings, and others are for your enjoyment to listen to, worship at home, and reflect on all the ways God is working in your life.
WAY MAKER // LEELAND
I had wanted to add this song to our worship for a few months now, but hadn’t found the right service to add it. I felt that this song was a great fit to sing when Pastor Ed started his new series “Rebuild Your Life”. The lyrics speak to our Lord healing and mending every heart, turning lives around, and that He alone is the way to rebuild our lives. He is the miracle worker, promise keeper, and light in the darkness. We can’t (despite that the world may say otherwise) pick ourselves back up and rebuild alone. Christ is the foundation for rebuilding.
KING OF KINGS // HILLSONG WORSHIP
The verses in this song clearly lay out the gospel. It starts with darkness with no hope. Then the light of the world comes to save us! One of my favorite lines is the conclusion:
By His blood and in His name In His freedom I am free For the love of Jesus Christ Who has resurrected me
GONE // ELEVATION WORSHIP
When I first heard this song, I thought “Wow. Am I living every day like the stone is gone?” It’s so easy to wake up in the morning and get distracted by all the busyness of life. I get set on fire when I think of the stone being rolled away from Christ’s tomb and finding out He has risen. Now… What if we started every day with that excitement in our lives? Wouldn’t the day start with a new sense of focus? Won’t the challenges of the day seem a little less significant when we remember He has already won and we have victory with Him?
